ACLU…Protector or Predator ??

By Conrad Quagliaroli

Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan’s is quoted as saying; “You’re entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts”

OPINION: The ACLU protects our rights and fights the government on our behalf.

FACT: The ACLU certainly fights against our government and our capitalist economy, but not on the behalf of the majority of Americans who believe our form of government and capitalism is the best way to go. It sues local school boards and towns, forcing them to defend themselves and spend money that could otherwise be used to build schools and parks.

FACT: The ACLU was founded in 1920 by Roger Baldwin who stated “We are for socialism, disarmament and ultimately for abolishing the state itself. We seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.” (Source: Trial and Error, by George Grant)

In her paper, Revealing Facts on the ACLU from its own writings, Diane Dew states; “some consider the ACLU to be destructive to the fabric of our society. Following are some of the stated goals of the ACLU from its own published Policy Issues: The legalization of prostitution (Policy 211), The defense of all pornography, including child porn, as free speech (Policy 4), The promotion of homosexuality (Policy 264) Opposition of rating of music and movies (Policy 18), Opposition against parental consent of minors seeking abortion (Policy 262), Opposition of parental choice in children’s education (Policy 80).”

Jack Kinsella, Editor of the Omega Letter, in an article on the origin of the ACLU writes; “The ACLU’s holy war against the Boy Scouts, the LA County Official Seal (containing a tiny Cross), holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas..and even the Constitution itself, has unmasked the ACLU as a tyrant less interested in civil rights than imposing judicial restraints that amount to suppression of majority rights by a tiny minority. The ACLU claims to be an unbiased, “neither conservative or liberal organization” devoted exclusively to protecting the civil liberties of all Americans. But their record proves just the opposite. Rarely, if ever do you see them defend the right of someone to carry a Bible or say a prayer. ACLU founder Roger Baldwin admitted as much, saying for the record that; “Civil liberties, like democracy, are useful only as tools for social change.”

About the founder, Roger Baldwin, Kinsella writes; “During World War I Baldwin worked in the bureau of Conscientious Objectors. The legal and financial aid given to draft dodgers resulted in controversy and Baldwin renamed the organization The Civil Liberties Bureau. Controversy again caused a split, which resulted in the bureau renaming again; The National Civil Liberties Bureau. One paper Baldwin wrote for the Bureau was called “unmailable” by the Post Office because of “radical and subversive views” which resulted in a raid on their offices by authorities. Shortly thereafter he was imprisoned for a year for resisting the draft. In 1920 he moved his offices in with the Communist Party’s paper, and renamed the group a final time to the American Civil Liberties Union. He developed many ties with the communist movement and even wrote a book, Liberty Under the Soviets, which bragged about the “liberty won for anti-religion”. Baldwin admitted in his book; “I joined. I don’t regret being a part of the Communist tactic, which increased the effectiveness of a good cause. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the Communists wanted”

According to Kinsella, the ACLU’s anti Judeo-Christian bias is there for all to see. “The ACLU sued to; Halt the singing of Christmas Carols in public facilities. Deny tax-exempt status for Churches. Remove all Military chaplains. Remove all Christian symbols for public property. Remove In God We Trust from our coins. Remove God from the Pledge of Allegiance. Deny Federal funding for the Boy Scouts until they admit gays and atheists. The ACLU championed Roe v. Wade. In 1986 the ACLU created its “Lesbian and Gay Rights” project. In 1986 teacher Ken Roberts was ordered, following an ACLU suit, to remove his Bible from his classroom. In 2001 it sued the Anaheim public school system for refusing to put pro-homosexual material in the district’s high school libraries. In 2000, Arizona Governor Jane Hull issued a proclamation celebrating the birth of Buddha. An ACLU spokesperson said “Although we may think proclamations are inappropriate, they may not violate the Constitution.” But two years earlier, when Governor Hull issued a proclamation declaring a “Bible Week” the ACLU sued, claiming a violation of the so-called “separation of church and state. The ACLU has been so successful that even the Declaration of Independence can be interpreted as unconstitutional, if the argument is framed properly. A San Francisco suburban teacher was forbidden to give out copies of the Declaration of Independence to his students by the school’s principal, Patricia Vidmar, because it refers to God. This has led to other materials that refer to God or Christianity being rejected, such as George Washington’s journal, John Adams’ diary and William Penn’s “The Frame of Government of Pennsylvania.” The Las Vegas Review reported that “Valedictorian Brittany McComb’s mic was turned off before she could mention God in her graduation speech. An attorney with the ACLU said that cutting her mic was the right call.”

The Life Site News wrote; “According to Sears and Osten, commenting on the ACLU’s successful bid to force public school children in California to attend classes that indoctrinate them with homosexual propaganda. The ACLU positions itself as the great defender of rights, but is against the right of parents not to allow their children to participate in assemblies and curricula that actively undermine and ridicule their religious beliefs” (Alan Sears and Craig Osten wrote the book, The ACLU vs. America)

In Renew America, Nedd Kareiva writes that; “ in the book The Marketing of Evil by David Kupelian, he points out how the ACLU has camouflaged evil as something to be desired and not shunned. On abortion the ACLU takes the sting and stigma out of it. “Baby” was reduced to fetus, killing an unborn child reduced to “a woman’s right to choose” Another area where the ACLU paints smiley faces is in its defense and promotion of homosexual causes, including same sex marriage and adoption. Cloaking these families as “concerned parents and loving partners”. You’ll never hear the ACLU point out any negative homosexual issues.”

George Grant, author of Trial and Error, says “much of the annual budget of the ACLU is supplied by the American Taxpayer through the Federal program mandated by the Civil Rights Attorneys’ Fee Awards Act of 1976. If the ACLU wins a case that involves a public institution, the organization collects the full legal fees of its attorneys from the government, even though those attorneys offered their services pro bono (without charge).”

David Kupelian, editor of WorldNetDaily.com, explains the ACLU’s tactic of forcing U.S. taxpayers to foot the bill for it’s attacks on Christianity. “They are engaged in trying to eliminate every vestige of Judeo-Christian expression in public places in America. It’s frightening-and they are using our tax dollars to do this. He says. “They use the laws of the land to get American taxpayers to spend their hard-earned money, actually financing the destruction of all they hold dear.”

If you went to the ACLU website at www.aclu.org on August 18th you saw the following headlines; “Torture by our government” “Pennsylvanians sue to halt harsh anti-immigrant law” and “ACLU return to court in Patriot Act challenge.” With regard to torture by our government, what I’d like to know is did the good, gentile folks at the ACLU not see the video of Islamic fanatics slicing off the head of Nick Berg with a butcher knife. Starting at the side of his neck as he was bound and screaming in pain? Did they not hear the gurgling sound as he drown in his own blood as the knife cut through his wind pipe? Where was their outrage then? When are they going to stop suing the U.S. Army for putting panties on prisoners heads and start condemning Islamic terrorists, by going to International Courts for cutting the heads off their prisoners? And if you clicked on the “harsh anti-immigrant law” headline the first paragraph stated; “An ordinance that classifies certain immigrants as “illegal” punishes landlords and employers who do business with those immigrants.” Excuse me, did I miss something here? The headline talked about “anti-immigrant” not illegal immigrants. That is typical of those on the left. They take the stigma out of illegal immigration by referring to it as immigration. And if I am not mistaken, isn’t this ordinance just enforcing a 20 plus year old Federal law about hiring illegal immigrants who drive down the wages for American workers? My question here is, whose side is the ACLU on, the American poor who are forced to work for lower wages because of the illegals, or the illegal immigrants, who broke the law entering our country and have most likely broken another law by stealing someone’s social security number to work? And last I heard, the Patriot Act was passed with overwhelming bi-partisan support to protect us from terrorists. And no one has yet proven, that the wire taps have listened in on anyone but suspected terrorists making calls to each other. Don’t hold your breath till the mainstream media gives you any of this information. Now that you have the facts, you can read the books mentioned in this article, (read Baldwin’s book) go to the ACLU website, and decide for yourself if it really is the ACLU vs. America.

Conrad Quagliaroli is in the Financial Services Industry here in Cherokee County. He is also an unpaid volunteer for Americans for Fair Taxation who has conducted many tax reform meetings at our local libraries.
